Beauty Police: Taylor Momsen Looks Like She’s Trying Out For American Horror Story: Coven

Beauty Queen Drama! Miss New York Reportedly Called Miss America “Fat as [Bleep]!”

Mallory Hagan, Miss America 2013, Nina Davuluri

We think a black double-winged eye would be perfect edgy and dark but won’t make us sleep with the lights on. To create a double-winged eye, start by covering your upper eye area in an off-white powder eye shadow like Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow in Bone . Then, contour your creases by using a small tapered crease brush dipped in a matte brown eye shadow like Cover Girl Eye Enhancers 1 Kit Shadows in Brown Smolder 740 in a windshield wiper motion. Next, use an easy to apply waterproof liquid black eyeliner like MAKEUP FOR EVER Aqua Liner in Matte Black to make a line along your upper lash line. You want the line to be thin from the inner corners of your eyes to the center of your lash line. Then, you want to gradually make the line thicker. MORE BEAUTY POLICE: Tips to steal some celeb looks…and avoid others! Once you get to the outer corner of your eye, draw a line towards your temple (instead of the upwards swoop of a traditional winged eye). Next, draw a line along your lower lash line and extend it in the same direction and at the same length as your upper lash line wing. To give this look more drama, once the eyeliner on the lower lash line is dry, smudge a black matte eyeshadow over the line, blending it with a Q-Tip to give it a smokier look.

Miss New York Nina Davuluri is reportedly blasting fellow beauty queen and Miss America title holder Mallory Hagan as “fat as [bleep].” According to Page Six , another beauty queen tape recorede Davuluri attacking Hagan’s weight. She made the comments in her hotel room after winning Miss New York on July 16 on Staten Island. “Davuluri invited friends back to her hotel room after her win,” a source told the paper. “A girl in the next room overheard their conversation, and was so offended she decided to tape part of it. A friend of Davuluri’s was supposedly heard making racist remarks, and Davuluri is allegedly heard on the tape blasting Miss America, Mallory’s fat as [bleep].’ The recording has been making the rounds of pageant contestants and officials.” PHOTOS: Biggest celeb dramas The source adds that Davuluri’s attacks “were brought to the board of the Miss America pageant.” Davuluri’s also reportedly sent a Facebook message to Hagan denying the offensive comments, writing, “I want to apologize for the awful statements made by people in my room…There were people who claimed to be my supporters and said things I never agreed with, nor supported…I was never a part of the words or statements that may have been hurtful…I’m sorry if someone said something that was inappropriate.” A new Miss America will be crowned during this Sunday’s annual pageant.

5 Signs You Could Have A Sleep Disorder

Pay attention to certain signs that could point to you having a sleep disorder.

If you’re still sleepy after a full night in bed, chances are something is happening to prevent your body and brain from entering those deep, restorative levels of sleep. Signs You Could Have a Sleep Disorder You snore The problem: Your partner says you snore or stop breathing in bed. Snoring may be harmless, but it could also be a warning sign for sleep apnea a dangerous condition in which your airway becomes obstructed and you stop breathing in your sleep. Signs You Could Have a Sleep Disorder You sleep during the day The problem: You nod off during everyday activities like reading or driving. It’s normal to be tired after a night of tossing and turning, but when you start to experience excessive daytime sleepinessfalling asleep at work or behind the wheel, for exampleit’s time to consider whether you’re getting enough sleep, and whether you might have a sleep disorder. Signs You Could Have a Sleep Disorder It’s been a long, tired road The problem: You’ve had trouble falling asleep (or staying asleep) for at least a month. It may seem obvious, but people suffering from insomnia often don’t seek help from their doctors; they either assume they’re meant to be that way or that the problem will go away on its own.

Snoring makes you ugly

Sleep apnoea, which can be hard to treat, has the knock-on effect of loud snoring

Using a sensitive “face mapping” technique usually used by surgeons, and a panel of independent appearance raters, the researchers detected changes just a few months after they began using a system called CPAP to help them breathe better during sleep and overcome chronic sleepiness. Related Articles Jurassic Park ruled out dinosaur DNA could not survive in amber 12 Sep 2013 The 22 independent raters used for the study, which is published in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, were asked to look at “before” and “after” photos and rank attractiveness, alertness and youthfulness and to pick which picture they thought showed the patient after sleep apnea treatment. In two thirds of cases, the raters stated that the patients in the post-treatment photos looked more alert, more youthful and more attractive. The raters also correctly identified the post-treatment photo two-thirds of the time. Researchers from the University of Michigan Health System and Michigan Technological University began the study after hearing anecdotal evidence that sleep centre staff often saw in sleep apnea patients.

Plainfield Teen A National Ambassador For Nutrition Program

Doreen Campbell – Hartford Nutrition Examiner – Nutrition

Shauna said her ambassador role would continue through this school year and next school year as well. National ambassadors like Shauna, along with state ambassadors, lead the Fuel Up to Play 60 program by encouraging youths directly to eat better and get more exercise, according to the school district. Shauna also received a trip to Soldier Field as part of a summit, according to the district. Shauna said she hopes to start a program that will give students exercise breaks in the middle of the school day and in classrooms. “After taking notes and taking tests, you start to zone out and you no longer listen,” she said. “We’re kind of remedying that by doing in-class activity breaks.” Shauna said it’s important to get kids her age to begin the good habits of healthy eating and exercise so they can carry those habits into adulthood.

“We must provide adequate nutrition to provide energy, consistent growth velocity and age-appropriate milestones in all areas of development,” he said. In the new study, Wright’s team analyzed the nutritional content of all baby foods in the United Kingdom that can be used during weaning, a time when infants are introduced to a wider range of food textures and flavors in order to encourage them to try different foods and boost their energy and nutrient intake. The 462 products included ready-made soft, wet foods; powdered meals that are reconstituted with milk or water; breakfast cereals; and finger foods, such as rusks. The researchers found that 79 percent of the products were ready-made spoonable foods, 44 percent of which were marketed for infants aged 4 months and older.

To Ward Off Diabetes, Eat Whole Fruit, Shun Fruit Juice

CHARLOTTE, VT - AUGUST 6: Blueberries are picked by hand August 6, 2010 at the Charlotte Berry Farm in Charlotte, Vermont.

Juicy Details The study also revealed an interesting twist. Consumption of fruit juicesincluding apple, orange, and grapefruitnot only failed to deliver the same benefits as whole fruit but even appeared to raise the risk of diabetes. People who drank at least one serving a day of juice had a 21 percent higher risk of developing diabetes than those who did not. There are a few possible reasons, said Sun. “During juicing processes, some phytochemicals and dietary fiber are lost, said Sun. And since fluids are more rapidly absorbed than solids, drinking juice brings on a more rapid and more dramatic glucose and insulin response than eating whole fruits. The questionnaires did not specifically ask whether the juice people were consuming was pasteurized or sweetened, although many store-bought juices are.

Joint Guidelines Urge Diabetes Dx Based on HbA1c

But for those who do need an intervention, such as those with several or complex coronary artery stenoses, bypass surgery should be offered before percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), according to the guidance, as new data has shown better morbidity and mortality outcomes with bypass surgery. “New trial data clearly show that morbidity and mortality are superior with bypass surgery compared to coronary [angioplasty], even with the use of drug-eluting stents,” Ryden added. The new guidance also calls for individualization of targets for blood pressure and glucose, as well as greater involvement of patient preferences in decision-making. It also updates specific blood pressure targets, increasing the general recommendation for those with diabetes to 140/85 mm Hg from 130/80 mm Hg in 2007. The focus on individualizing treatment is similar to recommendations put forth by U.S. endocrinology groups , including the American Diabetes Association and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. And clinicians should prioritize weight stabilization over reduction, as well as recommend against drugs that raise high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, which data have shown to be ineffective, the researchers wrote.
